Lent 2023 day35
Ive been lying in my bed over the past several months looking at the glass lampshade hanging from the ceiling and thinking that it could probably do with a clean. I could see cobwebs forming and dust accumulating. Yesterday evening I finally got round to taking it down. To say it was dusty was an understatement! The glass shade was covered in a thick film of grime. The lightbulbs themselves were dusty and cobwebs were strung between them. Ten minutes of spit and polish later and everything was all clean and back in place. And it was only then that I wished Id taken a photo -before and after!
Im sure you have already worked out by now that the result of cleaning the light shade and bulbs is that now my bedroom light is throwing out a whole heap more .....light 😀. The thing is that the dust settles evenly and imperceptibly so that the light is dimmed little by little. It takes ages before it is noticeable ( well to me anyway. Other people probably clean their light fittings on a regular basis 😁) I guess even when we arent hiding our light under a bushel and its on a lampstand, it can still need regular maintenance for optimal shine.Dust is generally made up of dead stuff. Particles that were once useful and part of something but which are no longer necessary and have been cast off into the air. Its an inevitable by product of life and mostly its harmless. But if we dont clean it up reasonably regularly it can become a problem.
This week Ive been feeling a bit sluggish and dusty. In my head. Sometimes life is so busy that my head goes into freefall and I cant focus let alone shine. Time to get the duster out and let God make me clean again. The good thing that it doesnt take much to re-set with Him and when we do we shine at full power once more
